2010 Tennis Open Another Successful Fundraiser For YGC

The Scott County Youth Grantmaking Council (YGC) 2010 Tennis Open was another successful event, announced committee chairperson Carmen Boley. The YGC is a program of the Scott County Community Foundation.

This year, the Youth Grantmaking Council raised around $700 at our YGC Tennis Open,” said Boley. “The community did an admirable job of donating wonderful items to raffle. Council members donated a great deal of their time to help set this up and make money for the youth of Scott County. Next year, I hope we can get more people to play, so more youth can benefit from everyone’s hard work. I am confident that the council will put the proceeds to good use and make a positive difference in our community.

This is the second year for the fundraiser, which supports the operations of the YGC. It was held Aug. 7 at Scottsburg High School.

Event winners include: Men’s Singles, Brandon Boswell; Women’s Singles, Kylie Amick; Men’s Doubles, Eric McIntosh and Aaron McIntosh; Women’s Doubles, Tammy Duvall and Kasey Tobias; Men’s Singles (consolation round), Justin Wright; Women’s Singles (consolation round), Lauren Howser. There were 24 participants.

The Scott County Youth Grantmaking Council would like to thank the following:  t-shirt sponsors ILPEA Industries, Polley Images, Scott County Auto Center, Scott County State Bank, Scott County Women’s Tennis League, Andrea Soloe for Scott County School District 2 School Board, Sunshine House Health Food Store and Wal-Mart Distribution Center.
