Dan and Mary Lou Slattery Fund
As a member of the Board of Directors of the Scott County Community Foundation, Dan Slattery wanted to show his commitment to the Foundation’s mission.
While Dan and Mary Lou reside in Bartholomew County, Dan felt it was very important to support the community where he works. Dan has been employed at Morgan Foods for 12 years and was very impressed with the work the Foundation does for the residents of Scott County.
Both are members of the St. Agnes parish in Brown County and have been very active in a variety of leadership positions. They have been involved in many aspects of community life, along with Dan enjoying golf and Mary Lou being a regular on the tennis courts. They both enjoy travelling and spending time with their children and grandchildren.
By establishing the Dan and Mary Lou Slattery Fund in the Forever Tree Society, they are able to support the mission of the Foundation today and for generations to come. They like the many benefits of the program – that a person or organization can begin a fund with a small amount of money, that anyone can contribute to their fund in any amount for any special occasion, and that when their Blossom Fund reaches the Willow Fund level, grants will be awarded to the community in their honor. They were also able to take advantage of the Foundation’s matching funds program, providing $1 for every $1 they contribute.
The Scott County Community Foundation’s Forever Tree Society is a unique program that allows donors to honor or memorialize a loved one, or give tribute to your favorite organization. There are three levels in the Society: the Blossom Fund, the Willow Fund and the Oak Fund. All donors who give an unrestricted gift of $500 or more become members of this special program. The Board of Directors has set aside limited matching funds for those who establish their own fund or donate to a current fund.
