Scott County Youth Grantmaking Council (“YGC”) members recently helped pack food for the Blessings in a Backpack program, which provides food every weekend during the school year to 104 children in Scott County School District 2. Children in Scott County School District 1 also receive food from the program, which is administered by the school. Blessings in a Backpack received a grant from the Scott County Community Foundation for $5,000, and a grant from the Scott County Youth Grantmaking Council for $640. Shown from left are Blessings coordinator Sara Campbell; YGC volunteers Lauren Turner, Josiah Croasdell, Isaak Mount, Alexa Howser, Emma Waskom, Kaleb Mount and Eliza Mount. There is currently a waiting list of students who could benefit from the Blessings program, with it only costing $80 to feed a child for the school year. Please contact Sara Campbell at 502-593-6281 for information on how to donate, or send your tax-deductible check to Blessings in a Backpack Bank Lockbox, P.O. Box 950291; Louisville, KY 40295. Please indicate which school district you wish to help.
