Scott County Community Foundation Executive Director Jaime Toppe presents a check for $2,222 to City of Scottsburg Parks Department Director Jerry Asher and Scottsburg Beautification Committee Treasurer L.L. Lowry. The grant was awarded from the Scottsburg Beautification Committee Endowment Fund, which was established in 1997 through a bequest from Otis Collier and is used to provide ongoing maintenance at the Otis Collier Memorial Garden. Otis was a long-time employee of Morgan Foods, a past Scottsburg Warrior basketball coach, and someone who loved gardening and was known for his beautiful rose gardens. After his death, the Scottsburg Beautification Committee created the garden at Lake Iola in his memory. Visitors will enjoy the picturesque and tranquil setting, which will soon receive a new bench for seating.
