"This past semester was by far my best semester at ISU. After this year, I have completed four years towards my undergraduate degree in Psychology and I still have one more year before I graduate. This semester, I was enrolled in 15 credit hours. In addition to my major in Psychology, I have added a minor in Women’s Studies which I thoroughly enjoy. The 15 credit hours I was enrolled in provided a busy schedule. Each class required a lot of paper writing, presentations, homework, experiments, and readings. But I found that a busier schedule helps me stay on task better. My grades in these classes improved significantly from past semesters.
In addition to attending class, I also worked at a Precious Treasures Childcare Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. every week. I also continued to remain involved in the Christian ministry Campus Outreach as well as attend two Bible studies, one of which I was responsible for leading three freshman girls.
As for my future plans, I have remained interested in the field of Christian counseling. This past semester, I have also been given a strong desire to work in the foreign mission field to provide my counsel in trauma affected areas affected by poverty and war. In order to pursue this career path, I have been communicating with Wendy Johnson who works with Wycliffe Bible Translators. We have kept in contact via telephone and email and she has provided me with numerous resources to help me research a potential career field with Wycliffe. Wycliffe Bible Translators is an organization that provides many different job opportunities. Their main purpose is translating the Word of God into languages that do not yet have a Bible. In order to make this happen, many people are needed for a variety of roles, including a Christian counselor. I am very excited about this potential job opportunity. For now, I am excited to head back to campus in the fall for my final year, and continue to pursue what I love."
