Natalie Reeves - 2008 Lilly Scholar

Natalie Reeves ,
2008 graduate of Scottsburg High School, attending University of Southern Indiana

"This summer absolutely flew by. The past three years have gone by quickly, but it seemed like I blinked and this semester was gone. It was such a good semester. Was it stressful? Yes, very. It was one of my hardest semesters, finishing up classes before student teaching next semester, but it was a really great semester. I got in a lot of field experience with first and fourth grades, and every minute of it all was a great learning experience. It was frustrating at times, but I had the mindset of trying to learn from every situation, both good and bad. I was blessed to get to lead a small group Bible study again, as well as serving on the Leadership Team for the campus ministry, Encounter. Due to my class schedule, I did not do as many extracurricular activities as I have in the past, but I did enough to keep me busy.

It is hard to believe that I am graduating in less than four months now. It seems like just yesterday I was moving into my dorm room as a freshman. I am amazed at how quickly the past three and a half years have gone by. There have been a lot of ups and downs, good and bad times, but I would not change a minute of any of it. I am so glad that I chose to attend the University of Southern Indiana. I have made lifelong friends and gained a fantastic education. I am so excited to be student teaching next semester, eight weeks with second grade and eight weeks with sixth grade. I know that it is going to be great.

I am so thankful for the Scott County Community Foundation and Lilly Endowment. They have made my college career much less stressful than it could have been, and I feel truly blessed to have received so much help in gaining my education. I am so grateful and appreciative for all that they have done for me."
