"I am a student again! I never expected to go back to school so soon after finishing my undergraduate degree, but the economic climate has not been very conducive to finding another job.  After completing a few summer courses in the fall, I applied to several optometry programs across the country and was fortunate to be accepted to every single one!  I have decided to attend the State University of New York College of Optometry, located in the heart of Manhattan just two blocks from Times Square!  I spent the last three months traveling through South America, where I was able to visit 5 countries and meet people from around the world.  It was a fantastic opportunity to see the world and experience new cultures. I feel very blessed that I have been so fortunate in my life, and I am thankful for all of the opportunities the Lilly Endowment has given me.  I am excited to start a new chapter in my life, and I hope to continue to make the Scott County Community Foundation proud."
