"I have just completed my first semester at USI, and it has definitely been one of the best and most challenging three and a half months of my life. Adjusting to living with three other people, getting used to the work load of classes, and working part time at the Registrar’s Office has all been exciting and stressful at the same time. I was terrified when I walked into my first class the Tuesday morning after Labor Day, but soon met new people and grew more comfortable with college life. The first few weeks were possibly some of the most stressful weeks of the whole semester. I did so much studying it really seemed unreal. I roomed with one of my best friends and we stayed with two girls we did not know until August. That has definitely brought some challenges this semester as well, but it all worked out in the end. I have been working in the Registrar’s Office 10 or 12 hours a week; I work with some really great people and definitely am lucky to have this job. Since it is an on-campus job, they work really well with my schedule, and my boss is really laid back and easy going. That definitely helped my transition into college as well. Finals week, actually just four days for me luckily, was full of stress, headaches, and more studying than I really thought was possible. My late nights and straight days of headaches all paid off though. I did well on my finals, and I am glad to have a break for a while, but I’m excited to see what next semester will bring for my life!"

"This semester has been a big step for me. This semester I took classes that are part of my LADRs or Liberal Arts Degree Requirements. I quickly realized that Hanover really did offer something unique to my education. While it has been harder than I could have ever imagined, it has also been a great learning experience. I look forward to seeing what I have learned at the end of four years. Outside of class there is always something going on with an endless number of campus groups and campus events. On top of my classes and activities I am also part of Hall Council and a member of Student Senate as a representative for three freshman housing buildings on campus. I would like to thank the Scott County Community Foundation for making my journey at Hanover a reality."
