Helping Hand second place - Jasmine Jackson

Scottsburg Middle School sixth grader Jasmine Jackson, right, was honored as the second place recipient of the 2016 Scott County Youth Grantmaking Council (?YGC?) Helping Hand Award. She is shown with YGC member Lyla Waskom. Jasmine was nominated as a fifth grade student at Vienna-Finley Elementary School. She is very active in her school and church activities, but what sets her apart, according to her teachers and counselor, are her leadership skills and natural ability to help others, which is evident by the activities she participates in. She received a certificate, $50 and a youth philanthropy kit as a way to express appreciation for her volunteer efforts.

This is the third year the YGC has awarded the Helping Hand Award to honor youth who have set themselves apart from others by working to make Scott County a better place.
