Members of the Scott County Youth Grantmaking Council (?YGC?) helped pack food for the Blessings in a Backpack program at their December monthly meeting. Mark Coffey with Genesis Plastics helped coordinate with the Blessings in a Backpack program volunteer Sara Campbell to provide extra donations for the students during Christmas break. There are 288 children in both school districts who benefit from the Blessings in a Backpack and Gleaners Backsacks food programs, which provide food for students every weekend during the school year. Sara Campbell recently partnered with Gleaners, which is currently serving local elementary schools in both districts to accommodate the growing number of students in need. Starting in the 2013 school year, Gleaners will be the official provider of the Backsacks program to children in our local schools.
