Sixteen youth from our Scott County Youth Grantmaking Council (“YGC”) attended the 2012 Youth Philanthropy Initiative of Indiana leadership conference at Park Tudor School in Indianapolis. At “Learning to Lead Locally,” students networked with other youth from across the state who are also involved in giving and serving in their communities. They learned how to communicate face-to-face in a Facebook world, how to lead meetings, understanding leadership differences when working with teams and much more. Shown are, from left to right: Lauren Turner, Caity Rice, Jerel Taylor, Emma Waskom, Isaiah Turner, Lindsey Boswell, Caleb White, Haley Mullins, Justice Gabbard, Luke Taylor, Isaak Mount, Brandon Boswell, Jordan Shuler, Tyler White, Kaleb Mount and Josiah Croasdell. The YGC is always accepting applications for membership on its Community Service Committee, which meets monthly to complete service projects. It is open to any student in grades 5-12.
