Attending the University of Evansville to major in exercise science/pre-med

“My second year at the University of Evansville was filled with so much growth and gratitude. It was my first full year with my new major, Exercise Science, and I loved it so much! I got to make new connections, gain a research opportunity, and learn more about the field. The field is constantly growing, and I got to work in the lab with high-tech instruments such as cycle ergometers and body composition analyzers. The lab was a fun environment that allowed me to be hands-on and participate in testing to better understand my exercise response. I admire the field of study, and I think the experience will help me in medical school, as I have been learning a lot about human physiology.

Outside of Exercise Science, I got to be more involved in clubs, and one in particular was Chemistry Club. I gained a leadership opportunity in the club, made new friends, and worked with kids. I loved that I got to work in elementary schools and teach kids what chemistry was, but also how it appears in our everyday lives. Pediatrics is important to me, as that is what I want to pursue as a physician, so I could not be more happy about the club!

Besides my major requirements and clubs, I also completed more of my medical school prerequisites, such as Organic Chemistry II and Inorganic Chemistry. The classes were hard, but very rewarding, and I was happy with how I completed them. I only have 4 more classes to complete for my medical school application, so things have gotten real, fast! I am so excited to apply, but also anxious about my MCAT, which I have started studying for. Next year will be full of busy moments, but also many opportunities that I am so excited about!”
