Nonprofit Resources

In an effort to assist nonprofits with capacity building, we provide a variety of resources. You are welcome to stop in the office and look through our library of nonprofit topics. Have a specific question on board governance or current statistics? Just call or email and we will do our best to get you the answer you need. BoardSource.org is an excellent resource for nonprofits, and we have several free resources we can send you.

Our Lunch ‘n’ Learn 2023 Series is “Effective Nonprofit Boards.” Nonprofit staff, board members and volunteers will help you navigate the necessary steps to building a strong governing board. Session 1: Developing & Strengthening Your Board of Directors will be held Thursday, Feb. 23 from 11-1 at the Lifelong Learning Center. Topics include understanding the types of nonprofit boards, selecting/removing board members, developing a board orientation, and knowing your bylaws. Session 2: “Understanding Board Member Roles” will be held Wednesday, March 15 from 11-1 at the Mid-America Science Park, business conference room. Topics include understanding board members’ roles in finances, roles of officers, and roles of committees. Sessions will be presented by Mark Eddy, President/CEO of Leadership Southern Indiana. The cost is $10 for each session and includes materials and lunch. Registration is required by one week prior to each session. Call 812.752.2057 or email info@scottcountyfoundation.org to register.

Nonprofit staff, board, and volunteers are also invited to attend our free Nonprofits at Noon. This is an opportunity to network with others in the field, share blessings, challenges, and offer solutions. Contact us to be placed on the email list for notification of the next session, to be held in April at the Scott County Heritage Center and Museum, date to be determined.

Our 2022 virtual series, Inspired Moments, includes topics on fundraising, strategic planning, nonprofit board roles and responsibilities, the board-staff partnership, and board recruitment. These sessions can be easily accessed at your convenience. Contact us at info@scottcountyfoundation.org to have the presentations emailed.
