2025 graduate of Scottsburg High School
Attending the University of Evansville to major in elementary education

“The University of Evansville has taught me many endearing lessons during my first semester here. I have learned just how inviting and welcoming a place can be. The professors and students here have very quickly become so near and dear to my heart through the comforting actions they’ve expressed towards me. Regular emails to check in, conversations in the dining hall, and prayer meetings in the lobby have all contributed to UE feeling like the heart of Scott County, like home.

I have learned that my future profession is worth pursuing. Through challenging classes of learning about education and technology, as well as the types and recommended uses of children’s literature, I have learned a lot. In addition, I had a 40-hour internship at McCutchanville Elementary School in the EVSC district and I wrote so many observation notes down that I needed a new notebook! I also volunteered with Junior Achievement to provide Family and Community lessons in schools as well. In this upcoming semester, I will be attending a school every Friday for 5 weeks to teach this lesson again. I can’t wait to eventually have a classroom of my own to inspire the future generations.

Lastly, I have learned that involvement has always been my best friend. I have gotten involved in exercise classes in our school gym, joined clubs of women’s Bible study, student government, and almost every form of band offered (Pep band, Holiday band, and Community band). These clubs and activities have reminded me to socialize and breathe a breath of fresh air and of new beginnings. I have truly been so blessed with roommates that have made my time at UE so lovely. I cannot wait to see what 2026 holds.”
