We are excited to welcome Susan Jerrell to the Board of Directors. She begins her term Oct. 1. The Scott County Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization that assists donors with their charitable giving. By giving to a permanent endowment fund, donors’ dollars are able to support the community with not only today’s needs, but those for generations to come.

Susan and her husband, Bryan, moved to Scott County in 1999 to be closer to her job at Scottsburg High School. Their sons, Brandon and Matthew, attended Scott County School District 2 schools from kindergarten through graduation. After college, both returned home to support their community. Brandon is a Spanish teacher at SHS, and Matthew is the pharmacy manager at Walmart.

Susan earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Indiana University and taught journalism and English for 32 years before retiring and starting her own business. Today, she works with clients around the world on marketing and copywriting projects. She also serves on the Scott County Library Board.

When she is not spending time with her husband, sons, and their wives, Susan enjoys reading, working in her flower garden, watching sports, or relaxing by the pool.

“I served on the Grants Committee and now also serve on the Scholarship Committee,” shared Susan. “Those experiences showed me the incredible impact the Community Foundation has on our community, and I wanted to be part of that.”

“We are honored that Susan has joined the Board of Directors,” shared Executive Director Jaime Toppe. “She brings expertise that will be helpful as we work towards increasing awareness of the great work being done in the community through our donors and volunteers.”
