The Scott County Community Foundation (“SCCF”) has welcomed Kathy Anderkin to the Board of Directors. She begins her term Oct. 1. The Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization that helps donors achieve their charitable goals. By giving to permanent endowment funds, donors’ dollars can support the community with not only today’s needs, but those for generations to come.
Kathy and her husband, Jerry, reside in Scottsburg. They have two daughters, Lesley (Brian) Carrico and Michelle (Chris) Yates, and one son, Casey (Megan) Anderkin. They have five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, with two on the way.
Kathy retired from Scott County School District 2, where she taught language arts in seventh and eighth grades at Scottsburg Middle School for 28 years. She attends Northside Christian Church, serves as secretary of the Scott County Retired Teachers Association, and is a member of the Scott County Family YMCA. She loves books, music, and hanging out with family and friends.
Kathy began her service to the Scott County Community Foundation as a member of the Scholarship Committee in 2018, serving six years. She is also an inaugural member of our Scott County Women’s Philanthropy.
“Service is important to me, and I believe the Foundation Board will provide opportunities for me to positively contribute to our community,” shared Kathy. “As an educator, I’ve witnessed the many needs in our area and recognize the great benefits that the Community Foundation provides. I’m excited to be part of this good work.”
