CASA of Scott County Executive Director Lea Ann Callico, center, accepts a check for $15,500 from Scott County Community Foundation grants committee member Heather White. Also shown are CASA board member Janie Alexander, CASA Board Vice President Carol Dunn, CASA Board President Cindy Watts and Community Foundation board member Melinda Sparkman. The grant will be used to hire staff to support volunteers of abused and neglected children. CASA currently has 96 children being served, and 32 CASA volunteers. There are over 100 children in need of services on the waiting list, who just need an adult volunteer to advocate for them. CASA has a volunteer training class beginning September. To register, call 752-4748. This grant was part of over $138,000 that was awarded during the 2014 Community Grants Program, and is made possible by unrestricted funds established by generous donors.
