Students with the Scott County Youth Grantmaking Council (YGC), a program of the Scott County Community Foundation, recently collected 1,203 items and $70 from the community for the Scott County Community Clearinghouse. The collection was part of the Souper Bowl of Caring, a nationwide effort for churches, schools and the community to collect money and food near Super Bowl weekend, in order to fight hunger and poverty in local communities. This is the eighth year the YGC has participated, and the largest collection to-date for the members ? they almost doubled last year?s efforts! The YGC would like to especially thank Multi-Color Corp. and Vienna-Finley Elementary School for their donation drives, as well as several people in the community who dropped off donations. The Clearinghouse assisted 538 families in January.
