  • Action Item: Build upon school-based theater, community theater groups, and performing arts programs through a performing/visual arts center.

  • Action Item: Increase the number of in-school and after-school programs including art programs, youth sports, clubs, and volunteer opportunities.
    • Progress:
      • Austin High School added a varsity boys and girls bowling team, and a JV bowling team into the Southeastern Indiana High School Bowling Conference.
      • Scott County School District 2 expanded offerings for elementary students with the addition of football and cheer programs for the 2022-2023 school year.
      • Scottsburg Middle School added a new class for students starting in the 2021-2022 school year, Exploring Music.
      • Scott County Partnership developed a new youth program, Scott County Night Live, for middle and high school students. Youth meet every Friday night to enjoy dinner and participate in activities.
      • Kiwanis Club of Scott County chartered a new Builders Club at Austin Middle School and a new K-Kids Club at Johnson Elementary School in the 2021-2022 school year. A new K-Kids Club will be chartered at Austin Elementary School for the 2022-2023 school year.
      • CEASe of Scott County, through a grant from Southern Indiana Arts Alliance, provided free age-specific art workshops for all ages, toddler through adult, for fall and winter 2023-2024.
      • Scottsburg High School recently completed construction on a new band and choir room addition.
