- Progress:
- Scott County School District 2 established an Early Learning Academy as a pilot program in the 2021-2022 school year, and has expanded to the community for the 2022-2023 school year.
- Action Item: Support infrastructure and facility improvements for Scott County Schools to ensure they can attract new talent, support new students, and adapt to online teaching strategies.
- Progress:
- Austin Elementary School celebrated the opening of their brand new building and renovation of their cafeteria, as well as two new playgrounds for the 2022-2023 school year.
- Scott County School District 1 has a new 21st Century After-School program building.
- Scott County School District 1 has made major renovations and improvements to its sporting facilities, to include a new soccer field, resurfacing of the track and new track & field events area, new bleachers/HVAC/windows in Rigel Gym, and the old pool was renovated into a multi-purpose room. In addition, the auditorium will be renovated in fall 2022, and there are plans for a new tennis court complex and new weight room in 2023. They are proud to share that they have won 9 sectional championships in 5 different sports since 2019!
- Scott County School District 1 has also made the following improvements/changes: Athletic Trainer Pathway, EMT Pathway, no book or technology rental fees, virtual option for high school students, and a full-time athletic trainer. They offer a free Associate?s Degree from Ivy Tech Community College. In addition, there is a free telehealth clinic in each building.
- Scottsburg High School broke ground May 2022 for their new band, choir and academic addition to the campus. The finished rooms became available for the 2023-2024 school year.
