Scottsburg Middle School teacher Tony Carter, second from left, accepts a check for $500 from Scottsburg Lions Club Treasurer Aaron Bressler. The grant was awarded from the Scottsburg Lions Club/Donald Q. Reid Memorial Fund at the Scott County Community Foundation and will be used to build a pavilion. Also shown are sixth grade students Chandler Marcille, Peyton Preston, Addison Borden, Melea Luttrell, Rachael Mount and Braxton Schroder.
?The SMS Student Learning Pavilion is a grant and community funded structure that will serve as a great place for students and teachers to ?think outside of the box,?? said Carter. ?The pavilion will be an open shelter equipped with steel tables and wi-fi capabilities so that it can serve as an outdoor classroom when needed. The Student Learning Pavilion will have the ability to host meetings and other extra-curricular activities.?
