The community will have two ways to support the youth in Scott County through upcoming fundraisers hosted by the Scott County Youth Grantmaking Council (“YGC”). The YGC is a program of the Scott County Community Foundation, and teaches philanthropy to youth in grades 6-12. Members participate in community service projects, learn leadership skills, and award grants to the community for youth-related projects. There are currently about 85 YGC members, and they award several thousands of dollars each year to schools and nonprofits.

Monday, May 6 from 5-7 p.m., they will host a Restaurant Night fundraiser at The Square Bistro, 27 S. First St., Scottsburg. The regular menu will be available, as well as a special of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and green beans. YGC members will work for tips.

Thursday, May 23, Chillers will donate 20 percent of sales to the YGC. All you have to do is mention you want to support the YGC when you visit.

You can also support the YGC by donating online at the Community Foundation’s website, www.scottcountyfoundation.org.
