The Scott County Community Foundation (“SCCF”) has welcomed Carmen Boley to the Board of Directors. She began her term Oct. 1. The Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization that assists donors with their charitable giving. By giving to a permanent endowment fund, donors’ dollars can support the community with not only today’s needs, but those for generations to come.

Carmen is the daughter of Roger and Shelby Boley. She graduated from Scottsburg High School in 2015, and from Indiana University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs in 2019. She is the Director of Building, Planning, and Zoning for the City of Scottsburg.

Carmen is the assistant girl’s tennis coach at Scottsburg High School. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Scott County Family YMCA. She enjoys walking her two dogs as well as other dogs at the Scott County Animal Shelter, as well as spending time with family and friends.

Carmen began her service to the Community Foundation in 2007, as a founding member of the Scott County Youth Grantmaking Council (“YGC”). The YGC teaches youth about community service, grantmaking, and leadership. Carmen was a scholarship recipient as a graduating senior. She became involved with SCCF again in 2019 when she joined a task force on community planning, and then joined the grants and governance committees in 2023.

“I’m excited to join the Community Foundation’s Board after being connected to it for most of my life,” said Carmen. “I first became involved through the Youth Grantmaking Council, where I served from fifth grade through high school graduation. I was also fortunate enough to receive Community Foundation scholarships that helped me pursue my college education. Now, I am currently serving on the Governance and Grants Committees. It is incredibly meaningful to be able to serve a Foundation that has given me so much!”

“We’re thrilled that Carmen, who learned about philanthropy as a YGC student, is now helping shape the Community Foundation’s future,” said Executive Director Jaime Toppe. “I love these full-circle moments that show how impactful our programs can be on people of all ages. Carmen’s willingness to voice her opinions strengthens our Board’s leadership and we appreciate her commitment to serve.”
